I just read a really good quote ” a child only gets one childhood.” I can’t say that always comes to my mind when counseling a pre-teen or teenager but it should.
A question for parents is “What did you want your child’s childhood to look like?”
A question for the teen is “What do you want your life right now to look like?”
This is a really good start to counseling. These questions can’t be answered by the counselor.
If you were to start here and then define the areas that need addressed, counseled or a new direction that would be counseling efforts going the right direction.
It would be also good to know how those two questions differ & how that affects your family.
