It’s is half way through a new year and I have not blogged very much. Reason is simple, it has been a busy year and that is a good thing. That though gives reason to write another piece in my blog.
There are times when we are in jobs or careers that everyday is more about worry if your company is downsizing, where they need to cut expenses or is your job being merged into another department and so on… Trying to go to work and remain positive & just do your job can create a lot of stress because living needs to be more about growing than just surviving or getting through another year. Job stress can also manifest itself in health problems or addictive behaviors because if a situation isn’t right, we really want it fixed, we just don’t know how to do it. We look for answers in the wrong places.
Working with people & experiencing success on my own has taught me that some tools that really work. Here are some ideas for you. How you work on these ideas is unique to how it fits in your life & how you see it best working for you.
1. Making a life map about you. This might include time with family, time spent on hobbies, education, activities, etc.. etc.. Attach two goals to each area to move forward in each area. See where you spend more time and focus on creating a balance that is right for you.
2. Begin to think about uncertainty as a path towards growth vs. failure. When you are in an uncertain place, begin to ask some questions.. “What if I did this?” or “What if I follow a dream?” or “How can I give to others?”
3. Calm the clutter in your mind with a healthy distraction such as listening to music & being open to answers that your intuitive mind will place in front of you.
Managing stress can be a healthy project with a little effort in creative positive ways vs. just doing more of what isn’t working.
